Question About Solar Power Adequacy

I do social networking for Harbor Freight. Recently, a customer sent me this question which stumped me, and the first thing I thought of was this group. Perhaps one of you good folks have an answer for Jim? Thank you ahead of time!

I got 3 sets of the 45 watts Chicago electric solar panel kits and was wondering if that is enough to charge my battery system.

I have a total of 1000 amp hours (9 batteries) on the batteries and they seem to be recharging really slow.

I am trying to run my house on about 50 % solar. Do I need more panels to speed up the recharging?

Hey Dave, great seeing on the forum. And as far as answering this.....our folks will have plenty to say. But first we must challenge the customer. He must be able to answer "50% of what". Everybody uses a different amount of power obviously. And it's all about the math, and it's impossible to do the math without some numbers. So, how much power does he use?

Is It just me, or is it surprising that if this is someone from hf, that they do not come back and at least say thanks? There have been a couple of these.

He did. "Thank you ahead of time!"  But more than likely he continued to read and found out his answer. Those answers are here on the forum if you do a little digging. Likely realized his answer then moved on. That are someone sent him direct email with answers and questions and he thanked them via there email. Which is the most likely outcome. . .
