I am not qualified to do this on my own, but I know a lot of you are. And I think this will prove very valuable for so many forum members since a lot of us are using our solar set ups as a "rural device" for our mountain retreats, hunting camps or camping.I really need to create a portable DIY long distance wifi antenna and set up. The longer the distance the better. Also, I do not want to do an antenna that relies on going directly to a laptop that you need to download a program to etc.…See More

Beyond Tesla: The Huge Profit Potential of Lithium

One of the stocks that I get the most questions about is Tesla. I’m not sure whether investor interest is due to the gorgeous lines of the Tesla Model S, its amazing high performance engine, the high flying stock, or the energy saving nature of all electric vehicles….. but Tesla is a very popular subject.…

Are You Sure You Want The Economy to get Better?

Posted on June 19, 2012 at 2:21pm 6 Comments

I think if you ask the general public who the average "do it yourself solar energy enthusiast" is they would say he or she is someone who is trying to save some money. And sure, that's true for a lot of us. Including me!

But that is just part of what motivates most of us, I think most of our members are motivated by what I call "fear of being plunged into darkness". And no matter how small your system is you will avoid that when Mr. Big Grid decides it's your "brown out day"…

Has anyone used an MPPT controller with the Harbor Freight 45 watt kit?

Discount Solar lists an MPPT controller(250 watts) at $109. I wonder how that might work with the Harbor Freight kit.

Kinda interesting place here. I'm just beginning my quest into solar power and in the process of learning. The HF set-up is really a great way to do it. Its perhaps not the "best" machine but its low price and availability will launch many DIY folks into the quest to instal and become familiar with this technology. I'll visit and post here when I have some questions and have something to report.
