Beyond Tesla: The Huge Profit Potential of Lithium

By Tony SagamiOne of the stocks that I get the most questions about is Tesla. I’m not sure whether investor interest is due to the gorgeous lines of the Tesla Model S, its amazing high performance engine, the high flying stock, or the energy saving nature of all electric vehicles….. but Tesla is a very popular subject. Tesla cars don’t just look fast; they…See More

Remembering Denise McCracken

It dawned on me today that we have a lot of new members here that probably don't know who Denise McCracken is....or was. Our old timers remember her all to well. This lady was really something special, her knowledge and ability to fabricate projects [yes, herself] was amazing. She brought so much great content to this forum. Whether it was her solar projects or her mini crane she built from scratch she was such a treat. Her last project was a small airplane she bought as is from an insurance…See More

Are You Sure You Want The Economy to get Better?

Posted on June 19, 2012 at 2:21pm 6 Comments

I think if you ask the general public who the average "do it yourself solar energy enthusiast" is they would say he or she is someone who is trying to save some money. And sure, that's true for a lot of us. Including me!

But that is just part of what motivates most of us, I think most of our members are motivated by what I call "fear of being plunged into darkness". And no matter how small your system is you will avoid that when Mr. Big Grid decides it's your "brown out day"…

To Ban or Not to Ban, that is the question!

Renewable Ray here, site administrator for the Harbor Freight 45 Watt Solar Panel Kit Community.

I have been getting a lot of private messages from members about a few things and I thought I would create a blog post to touch on a few of those.

Probably the biggest complaint I have been getting is that myself or another administrator [oh yes, they are lurking out there] has edited a members post. Well, sorry but that won't change for so many reasons. One of them…

Has anyone used an MPPT controller with the Harbor Freight 45 watt kit?

Discount Solar lists an MPPT controller(250 watts) at $109. I wonder how that might work with the Harbor Freight kit.

Kinda interesting place here. I'm just beginning my quest into solar power and in the process of learning. The HF set-up is really a great way to do it. Its perhaps not the "best" machine but its low price and availability will launch many DIY folks into the quest to instal and become familiar with this technology. I'll visit and post here when I have some questions and have something to report.
